Joy

I learned a valuable lesson this week. On my way to chemo I looked over at my husband and suddenly realized how much laughter heals.

This morning my husband opened the door for a friend, an elder at our church, in his underwear. My husband has no shame and I could not stop laughing. It felt so good to laugh.

So what was that lesson? We can’t allow the circumstances in our life to steal our joy. Joy is our source of strength. In fact the Bible tells us the joy of the Lord is our strength.

No one likes to experience hardship. It sucks. We all have experienced it. However, the key to overcoming the pit of sorrow is joy.

I’ve had my share of sorrow this week when circumstances unrelated to my cancer cut like a knife in my heart. I’m not suggesting you open the door in your underwear but I encourage you to find a reason to laugh, to rejoice and feel the freedom it provides.

“If you carry joy in your heart you can heal every moment.” ~ Carlos Santana

  1. You bring such joy to me. You remind me in my daily grind to be happy and have joy and faith. You always point my thoughts to Jesus. Love you
