How important is kindness in the life of a godly woman and what does that look like in your own life?
I don’t know if you have ever seen the movie or read the children’s book Wonder. In the movie the school principal challenges his students to be “kinder than is necessary”. I love that… being kinder than necessary.
Why is this important? The world needs it. They need to see Christ in us and if kindness is a characteristic of God than it is important we mirror that in our own walk.
It is a fruit of the spirit. Its love in motion. It’s being considerate, friendly, generous, affectionate, gentle. It’s a phone call from a friend or maybe an encouraging word at the appropriate time. Kindness simply sets you apart.
There is a verse in Prov 31 that saids a godly woman opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of kindness. That should make us more aware of how kindness speak to others. Kindness is speaking the truth in love so that others can listen.
As a fruit of the spirit we need to cultivate kindness. We all have the ability to be kinder than necessary. After all, as Christians we all have the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit in us. It must be an intricate part of who we are in this world. How else could we possible ever expect to be a light on a hill when we act and sound like everyone else?
